Sant Samagam commences at Rajim Kumbh Kalp Mela

Thousands of devotees participated in Rajim Kumbh Kalp Mela on the holy confluence of the Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondur rivers in Rajim on Thursday.Various events were held on Thursday. 2100 people blew “Shankh” in the Rajim Kumbh and created world record.

Seven-day Sant Samagam began in Rajim Kumbh Kalp Mela on Wednesday evening. After tremendous success of Rajim River Marathon, people of Chhattisgarh showed overwhelming support for World’s Largest Display of oil lamps at Rajim Kalp Kumbh Kalp Mela. People at large , from students to women to all age groups, Pujari from all important temples of the state, volunteers , Samaj etc took part in the event and 3,60,158 oil lamps were lit up , making a new world record.
The programme was organised by Department of Religious Trusts and Endowment and Water Resources Department. Saints and seers were accorded warm welcome in the Sant Samagam. The people are also making aware for river conservation, rejuvenation and cultural heritage.

Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati also participated in the Sant Samagam. Addressing the gathering, Shankaracharya Swaroopanand said that Shankaracharyas of the four Peeths have recognized Rajim Kumbh Kalp Mela as Kumbh. Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and Minister Brijmohan Agrawal took the blessings of Shankaracharya Swaroopanand.

Ministers Prem Prakash Pandey, Ajay Chandrakar, Ramsheela Sahu, MLAs R K Rai, Santosh Bafna, Govardhan Manjhi, Santosh Upadhyay, Tokhan Sahu, Vimal Chopra, Motiram Chandravashi, Kerabai Manhar, Sarojani Banjare, Shrawan Markam, Vidya Ratan Bhasin, Navin Markandey, Shyambihari Jaiswal, Birgaon Mayor Ambika Yadu, Kedarnath Gupta, Raipur Zila Panchayat President Sharda Verma, Gariyaband Zila Panchayat President Sweta Sharma and Raghunandan Sahu also took the blessings of Shankarachaya Swaroopanand Saraswati.
