Four BJP, one Cong candidate file nominations for RS

All four Rajya Sabha candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed their nomination papers in presence of senior party leaders on Monday. Likewise, lone Rajya Sabha candidate of Congress also reached Assembly to file his nomination papers and he was also flanked by senior party leaders. BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidates Union Minister Thawarchand Gehlot, Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP General Secretary Ajay Pratap Singh and National President of MISA Organisation Kailash Soni reached Assembly and filed their nomination papers in presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, State BJP President Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, State Organisation General Secretary Suhas Bhagat and other senior party leaders.

Before going to Assembly, BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidates reached BJP Headquarters and garlanded the statues of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Kushabhau Thakre and Rajmata Scindia. On this occasion, Ministers Dr Narottam Mishra, Umashankar Gupta, Maya Singh, Gopal Bhargava, Rampal Singh, Dr Gaurishankar Shejwar, Lal Singh Arya, Vishwas Sarang, Sanjay Pathak, Archana Chitnis, Deepak Joshi, Bhupendra Singh etc were present. Apart from ministers, BJP leaders, including Vice President Arvind Singh Bhadoria, Vinod Gotia, Vijesh Lunawat, MLAs Surendra Nath Singh, Rameshwar Sharma, Ramlal Rautel, Engineer Pardeep Laria, Ranjana Bhaghel, ex-Mayor Krishna Gaur, spokesman Rahul Kothari etc were also present.BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidates and Congress Rajya Sabha candidate presented their nomination papers to Returning Officer A P Singh and Assistant Returning Officer Puneet Kumar Shrivastava.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate for Rajya Sabha, Rajmani Patel also filed nomination papers in presence of party leaders, including State President Arun Yadav, Leader of Opposition in Assembly Ajay Singh, MLAs Jeetu Patwari, Hardeep Singh Dung, Spokesman Ravi Saxena etc.
Notably, five Rajya Sabha seats from Madhya Pradesh are going to fall vacant as tenure of Rajya Sabha members including Thawarchand Gehlot, Satyavrath Chaturvedi, L Ganeshan, Prakash Javadekar and Meghraj Jain is ending on April 2.

Monday was the last day to file nomination papers. The date for withdrawal of names is March 15 and if necessary then voting will be done on March 23.BJP is having enough strength in Assembly to retain all its four Rajya Sabha seats. Likewise, Congress is also having enough numbers of MLAs through which it will easily retain its lone Rajya Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh.
