Income Tax Department achieved tax collection target every time and it also lays down hands even on politicians and in this regard raid against Jayalalita and Madhu Koda could be reckoned with,” said DG of Income Tax (Intelligence and Criminal Investigation) New Delhi, Krishna Mohan Prasad. In an active interaction with mediapersons during his visit to Bhopal, Krishna Mohan Prasad added that post-demonetisation, sum of Rs 292 crore was deposited in 316 cases MP and CG circle and it is being checked. He said that Income Tax Department acts on credible information which it receives through various means and never discloses the name of informer. He also informed that Benami transactions of around Rs 2,900 crore have been identified across the country. Hinting that massive irregularities have taken place in co-operative banks, he said that now I-T Department is also focusing on co-operative banks.

Answering a question on crypto currency issue, he said that Government had hitherto not declared it illegal so far. Moreover, to check the misuse of NGOs and exemptions claimed by persons, an office had been opened sometime back. Likewise, Income Tax Department is having a system to check the misuse of exemption under agriculture income.
Talking about black money, Prasad said that black money is black money but problem is more of grey money.
