Two Govt employees suspended for embezzlement

In a rare land embezzlement case, two government employees acquired government land and obtained compensation of over Rs 36 lakh.
When the mater was brought to the notice of higher government officials by former District Panchayat member Parmanand Jangde, the culprits identified as Patwari Gajju Yadav and Kotwar Dipika Devdas were suspended.
According to the case the Revenue department acquired land of farmers coming under the submersion of a barrage constructed at Mahanadi River near Samoda village of
Arang Tehsil.
The suspended government staff Patwari and Kotwar acquired government land (Halka no. 47, Khasra No. 413, 449,450,458, 1174) of 1.33 Hecatre under a conspiracy to gain financial benefit, along with acquisition of the private land. The accused got Rs. 36.2 lakh approved as compensation for the government land.
The administration freeze the bank account of the accused but by the time they withdrew most of the fund.
SDM Arang, Sheetal Bansal said that initially the Kotwars has been terminated. However, government money could not be recovered. Patwari has been given ultimatum, Bansal said, adding, guilty will be not be spared.
