366th Chaitra Navratri celebrations begin today

“THE 366th Chaitra Navratri festival will be celebrated at Badi Khermai Temple in a historic manner. Lakhs of devotees will offer prayers during nine days celebration from March 18 to 26. Preparations are being carried out on war footing for the festival and special attention is being given on security arrangements in association with Police Department and local authorities,” informed Chairman of Shri Maa Badi Khermai Mandir Trust Adarsh Muni Trivedi while addressing a press conference on Saturday.

Senior Advocate Adarsh Muni Trivedi added that in order to monitor security of devotees and historic temple, a total of 26 close circuit television cameras have been made available, while four new cameras have been installed at Garbh Grah of the temple for safety and security of ancient idols. There are 24 temples of different deities are situated at the temple premises. In order to manage proceedings and handling a mammoth crowd of devotees, around 250 volunteers will be deployed with dress code. The festival will conclude with a grand Jawara Visarjan programme on March 28 and a Kanya Bhoj and Maha Bhandara would be organised on March 29. He added that Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Limited earlier declared the Khermai Temple Mela as biggest religious event in the State.

Lakhs of devotees from Jabalpur and its adjoining districts regularly visited the temple during the nine-day festival. Adarsh Muni Trivedi added that re-construction and beautification of Khermai Temple is being carried out with an expenditure of Rs 22 crore. The temple is being reconstructed on basis of Somnath Temple. Team of artists and machineries from Gujarat is constructing the grand temple. Shree Maa Badi Khermai Mandir Trust, Vice-President, Sharad Agrawal, Anil Pal, secretary, Shashikant Mishra and others were present.
