108/102 employees donate blood during indefinite protest

To draw attention of the State Government and GVK Company, members of Chhattisgarh 108/102 Employees Welfare Association organized blood donation camp as part of their ongoing indefinite strike at Idghabahata here. Total 108 members donated the blood for the social cause.According to Shiv Sahu Chhattisgarh 108/102 Employees Welfare Association, it was a mutual consent of striking members to organized blood donation camp for the social cause. He said that employees strike will continue till their demands are met and during the agitation employees will continue to host social events. He also alleged that that GVK Company and state government are not paying any attention towards their pending demands from past many years. Even after meeting with GVK officials including National HR Manager Krish Nayyer, who was apprised about pending demands like wage discrepancies, issue of job security, work timings and salary enhancement. But company officials disagreed on their demands. Sahu said that officials did not agreed on demands like the working timings be reduced from 12 hours to 8 hours and the workers be recognized as contract or outsourcing employees by the state government. He alleged at present employees are working as private employees and have to do 12 hour shift for a salary of Rs 11,500- 12,500. Even after 13 years service period employees are drawing the same salary without an increment for years. State government should recognize us as contract or outsourcing employees, so that we have some sort of job security’. The employees are demanding the basic pay be enhanced to 21,150. Other demands are overtime payment, timely salary payment, changed dearness allowance as per norms slated by Labour Department, said Sahu.
