Advocates abstain from work over demands

Demanding implementation of Advocates Protection Act, city advocates remained aloof from their work on Monday. They also demanded filling of vacant posts of judges. Owing to this reason, people whose cases are pending in court faced various kinds of difficulties. As advocates were on strike in support of their demands, hence court witnessed deserted look. The benches and chambers of advocates were empty. Owing to this reason, persons who came to court in connection with their cases were found roaming from one place to another. As advocates were on strike, many persons got their date of hearing extended. Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council’s Secretary Mohammad Mehboob Ansari told that it was on the call of Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council that advocates of State remained aloof from their work. Council has demanded implementation of Advocate Protection Act and vice versa. In the meantime, under the aegis of BHEL Advocate Council, advocates registered their protest against State Government by going for tonsuring of their head. On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Registrar General Fahim Anwar appealed advocates to return to their work. It is learnt that advocates will abstain from work till April 14.
