Chief Secretary Ajay Singh on Monday conducted a meeting on Oxyzone being developed behind the Raipur collectorate.
The Chief Secretary was informed by the officials about the shifting of government offices, falling under the limit of Oxyzone, to other locations. Additional Chief Secretary Sunik Kujur, Panchayat and Rural Development Department Additional Chief Secretary R P Mandal, PWD Secretary Subodh Singh, WRD Secretary Sonmoni Borah, Housing and Environment Secretary Sanjay Shukla, Social Welfare Special Secretary R Prasanna, Naya Raipur Development Authority CEO Mukesh Bansal and Raipur District Collector O P Choudhary were present in the meeting.

Oxyzone is being developed on 19-acre land housed 70 odd government office buildings, most of which have been demolished. These buildings were in an old and dilapidated condition. About 5% of the buildings that stood in good condition have been retained and will be converted into museums and cultural centres. Poor families who lived in slum-like conditions were shifted and rehabilitated. The eco-zone will have no lawns or manicured gardens but will be home for trees and plants that will generate maximum amount of oxygen. The oxy-zone will also have water bodies that will help in replenishing ground water in the area.
