Even as the 20 agitators were arrested, the anti-reservation Bandh called on by Brahmin, Rajput, Vaishya and other general category communities turned out to be a damp squib on Tuesday. City was up and running with not a single shop spotted with shutter down. There wasn’t any report of any school closing down either. However, anti-reservation groups had appeal the business community for cooperation to keep their establishments closed from 8 am to 1 pm. Anti-reservation groups had already clarified that the strike wasn’t against the Dalit community and appealed the Brahmin, Rajput, Vaishya and other general category communities to take part in the Bandh.

They announced of holding peaceful demonstration to demand complete repealing of the reservation so as there is uniformity in the society. An appeal was also made to the general category people to show up in their offices with black ribbon as a symbol of protest. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) City Vijay Agrawal told The Hitavada that 20 persons who were trying to force close the shops were arrested at Lakhe Nagar, Padao and Bharat MataChowk at Gudhiyari at around 9:30 am. They were demonstrating under the banner of ‘Arakshan Mukti Morcha’. No other untoward incident was reported from any part of the city.
