Sand mafias attack Patwari in Parseoni tehsil

Revenue employees demand stern action against culprits

In a shocking incident, sand mafias murderously attacked a Patwari attached to Parseoni tehsil office at Pipala sand ghat in the small hours of Tuesday, informed police.

The Patwari Mahavir Uke and Kotwal Abhyankar Nillekar were patrolling Saholi sand ghat as per the instruction of Parseoni Tehsildar on Monday night. They received an information of illegal sand excavation and transportation in Pipala ghat. Uke and Nillekar reached the spot and noticed a truck entering the sand ghat at 12.30 am. After seeing Uke and Nillekar, a group of 15-20 armed men attempted to attack them. However, the duos managed flee the spot.

After reaching Gavana village, Uke and Nillekar narrated the incident to Police Patil Shivram Thakre. Uke, Nillekar and Thakre again came to the spot. As Uke’s motorcycle was missing from the spot, they started searches and found the bike near Pipala village, there the armed man caught hold Uke and beaten him mercilessly. Uke felt unconscious after the attack. A team of revenue department reached the spot and rushed Uke to hospital.

A complaint was lodged at Parseoni Police Station.
Goons indulged in illegal sand excavation and transportation had attacked a Patwari in January this year. However, police had not taken any action against the sand mafias.
Employees of Parseoni Tehsil Office have submitted a memorandum to Tehsildar Varunkumar Sahare and demanded stern action against the sand mafias. The employees also threatened of pen down strike if the accused will not be arrested.
