Crime Branch sleuths round up eight, confiscate booty worth Rs 1.25 lakhs

CRIME BRANCH sleuths rounded up eight including four minors and confiscated booty worth over Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession in Supela, Bhilai. The police cell handed over the case to the police station concerned for further legal action in the matter. Police sources informed that the accused arrested by police were identified as Sandeep Patwa (24), a resident of Pariyapara; Karan Harpal (18), a resident of Smriti Nagar, Bhilai; Mithun Mahto (25) and Ramesh Kumar Mahto, both residents of Sahebganj, Jharkhand. The police said that the accused were involved in burglary and thefts occurred in Supela Police Station limits in the recent past and on their instances the police cell team recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments, cash and stolen mobile phones from their possession. The police cell trapped the accused while they were looking for customers to dispose off ill gotten valuables for procuring money. The accused used to conduct reiki in daytime and they were targeting locked houses to commit burglaries and thefts. The police have registered the offence against the accused under sections 457, 380 and 379 of IPC for indulging in the criminal acts of committing trespass, burglaries and stealing from open places. The police are further investigating the matter.
