Former Cabinet Minister Hemchand Yadav no more

Former Cabinet Minister and State BJP Vice President Hemchand Yadav who was undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi died at 3 am on Wednesday morning. The news of his death was received with shock by the people in the city. Hemchand Yadav was first elected to the Madhya Pradesh assembly in 1998 when hedefeated Arun Vora and made a chink into the Congress citadel of Durg thereafter Hemchand Yadav continued to represent Durg in Chhattisgarh assembly when the state was carved out from Madhya Pradesh. When BJP came to power in the state in 2003 he was made a minister. Hemchand Yadav, the son of the soil was born on December 1 in 1958 in Durg. He became BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President in 1990 and was given BJP ticket from Durg in 1993 but he lost by a big margin. In 1998 he was again given ticket and he succeeded in breaking the myth that Durg is Congress citadel when the constituency used to be represented by Congress stalwart Motilal Vora.

He was also appointed District BJP President. He won the assembly election of 2003 and 2008 consistently and was cabinet Minister both the time. However he lost the election in 2013. For the last one year he was not keeping well and was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Mumbai for stomach ailment. After his condition deteriorated he was referred to AIIMS, New Delhi where he breathed last at 3 am on Wednesday. Ministers Prem Prakash Pandey and Brijmohan Agrawal had air dashed to Delhi on Tuesday after the condition of Hemchand vitiated further.

The body of late Hemchand Yadav was flown in to Raipur around 7:30 pm and taken to Durg District Hospital Mortuary. His body will be taken to his residence in Baigapara around 8:00 am on Thursday and funeral procession will start at 9:00 am. The procession will traverse through Sheetla Mandir, Kankalin Mandir Chowk, Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir, Chandi Mandir, Shivpara, Gavalipara, Shanichari Bazar, Fawwara Chowk and reach BJP office at 10:00 am. After last glimpse by party workers and citizens the procession will start again and pass through Jawahar Chowk, Moti Complex, Old Bus Stand Chowk, Indira Market, Farishta Complex, Polsaipara, Takiyapara, Maan Hotel, Shikshak Nagar and reach Shankar Nagar Harnabandha Muktidham around 12:00 noon for cremation.Officials and employees of Durg Municipal Corporation paid tribute to Former Minister and State BJP Vice President Hemchand Yadav at DMC headquarters. Two minute silence was observed. Mayor Smt. Chandrika Chandrakar who is away conveyed her condolence telephonically. Rajya Sabha Member Saroj Pandey paying humble tributes termed the death as an irreparable loss and end of an era. District BJP President Smt. Usha Taori said Hemchand Yadav had made significant contribution in development of the newly formed Chhattisgarh State. Entire BJP fraternity shares the grief with the family.
