Staff Reporter,

Amidst criticism over giving status of Minister of State to religious gurus, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat, and Sarkaryavah Bhaiyyaji Joshi, at RSS Head Quarters in Mahal on Wednesday evening.

Chauhan reached Nagpur in the evening and directly went to RSS HQ at around 7 pm. Chauhan discussed some important issues related to Madhya Pradesh with Dr Bhagwat and Bhaiyyaji Joshi. Dr Bhagwat left for his pre-decided function after 20 minutes of closed-door discussion. Later, Chauhan discussed some vital issues with Bhaiyyaji Joshi for around one hour. He left RSS HQ around 8.30 pm.

When waiting mediapersons sought his reaction, Chauhan refused to reveal anything. According to sources, the closed door discussion revolved around social situation in the poll bound state and certain organisational and ideological issues. Particularly during last few months, the aggressive opposition parties have intensified agitation in BJP ruled states along with many social groups. Chauhan who has retained Madhya Pradesh for three terms will be facing the biggest electoral challenge this year before united opposition and attempt to vitiate social harmony. In this connection, the closed door discussion with RSS chief and Sarkaryavah assumed importance since Chauhan is still considered as one of the most popular chief ministers with tight grip on administration and grass root workers.
