RSCL ropes in BHEL, NERI to startBioremediation of Telibandha lake

Raipur Smart City Limited (RSCL) has roped in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and National Environment and Research Institute (NERI) for purification and makeover of historic Telibandha pond, situated on GE Road, in Telibandha. It is pertinent here to mention that Telibandha pond, located on the GE Road, is one of the most attractive spots of the Capital city. In this regard, RSCL officials including General Manager Avinash Bhoi, Additional General Manager BR Agarwal, Manager (Solar) Pramod Bhaskar had a meeting with Additional General Manager BHEL Sutripto Dey, Manager BHEL Ajay Singh and Dr Tuhin Banerjee from NERI to discuss theaction points of the project. Official sources averred that the project is purely focused upon the reinstating the natural ecosystem and making the water quality adequate to support life, with a clear and straightforward objective to remove all harmful aquatic weeds, increase the depth of the water body, significant reduction of nutrient elements which are harmful for aqua life to balance the ecology, and plantation of trees to reverse coastal erosion, natural air purification and CO2 absorption and restoring the soil ecology of the banks of the lake. “The estimated cost of the project is Rs 4.40 crore and is targeted to be completed by October this year,” he added.
