Traffic police intensify drive, issues 21,075 e-challans across city

Traffic Control Branch of City Police have issued massive 21,075 e-challans to motorists who did not adhere to traffic rules and safety norms including driving vehicles without fastening the seat belt, riding motorcycles without headgear and rash and negligent driving.

A police officer informed that the drive was launched from Friday. Besides e-challans, papers challans were issued to the traffic violators for dark film, overspeeding, use of mobile phone while driving, single jumping, number plates that do not conform to prescribed standards, customising vehicles in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) and overloading vehicles.

The traffic police have intensified checking of suspected vehicles the city. The police have checked 262 suspected vehicles across the city as part of security measures.
Traffic Chamber -2 have issued maximum 6,771 e-challans while Chamber -1 and Chamber -4 have issued just 1,956 and 2,642 e-challans respectively during the drive. 5,782 e-challans were issued by Traffic Chamber -3 and 3,994 were issued by Traffic Chamber 5.
