Youth hurt as tree falls in Waraseoni

It was a panic-like situation in front of medical shop situated close to Ambedkar Chowk on Tuesday evening at 5 pm after an old Neem tree got uprooted due to husty wind. The mishap caused serious injuries to a youth who was trapped beneath the tree. Three parked motorbikes were also badly damaged. The injured sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to government hospital and later referred to Balaghat District Hospital.According to information, traffic was disrupted near Ambedkar Chowk on Tuesday evening after a huge Neem tree crashed down after heavy wind hit the region. In the mishap a youth sustained serious injuries after getting trapped beneath the tree. The youth, Arpit Surana, who was purchasing medicines from the medical shop, got trapped under the tree. He sustained serious multiple injures and also leg fracture. As the tree fell on the road, MPSEB power cable was snapped causing power failure in the prime location of the city. The power was restored late in the evening around 9 pm.


Soon after the mishap, people rushed to the spot and started rescue operation to extrricate theyouth from beneath the tree. The injured was rushed to government hospital in Ambulance 108. The huge tree on the main road caused a traffic jam and JCB was pressed into service to lift the tree. Three motorbikes kept beneath the tree were badly damaged besides power supply was interrupted after the power cable of the MPSEB was broken. The broken power cable with live current made people to distance themselves from the area as no incident of electrocution was reported from the spot.
MPSEB staffers, when informed, switched off the power and reached the spot and started with repair of the broken power cable. The injured youth sustained multiple injuries with leg fracture after being admitted to Government Hospital was further referred to Balaghat District Hospital for intensive treatment. He is undergoing treatment and his condition is reported to be stable.MPSEB staffers had tough time repairing the broken power cable. Large number of people from the area have demanded attention from city municipality to trim huge trees.
