College bus crushes 5-yr-old girl to death, leaves three injured

A trip to a family function ended in a tragedy for a five-year-old girl when she was run over by a speeding college bus near Lalghati Square in Koh-e-Fiza area on Thursday morning, while she was on her way to Gautam Nagar area along with her mother, maternal uncle and cousin riding on a bike.In the road mishap, deceased girl’s mother, uncle and 8-year-old cousin brother sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby private hospital in critical condition. The accident triggered anger of locals present on the spot who not only vandalised the bus but also thrashed the bus driver black and blue and later handed him over to Koh-e-Fiza police. The accident also brought traffic to a standstill for more than an hour owing to road blockage by people which was later cleared by the police. According to SHO of Koh-e-Fiza, Anil Bajpai, the incident took place at around 8:30 am when four persons of a family, including Siraj Khan, his son Shadab (8), his sister Rani and her daughter Sana (5), daughter of Noor Mohammad, were heading towards DIG Bungalow in Gautam Nagar area riding on a bike when their vehicle was hit by a RGPV (UTD) college bus (MP-04 PA-2531) coming from Gufa Mandir Road while taking a
turn.


The bus was ferrying in the city to pick college students and apart from driver there was no one present in the bus.
Due to the impact of the hit, deceased Sana fell off the bike and after the mishap she fell on the road and died and sustained head injuries resulted in her death on the spot whereas her mother Rani, uncle Siraj and cousin Shadab escaped with injuries and are admitted in ICU of Trapti hospital. The bus driver then tried to speed away but was held by locals who thrashed him and also vandalised the bus. The accused driver is identified as Farman, who was driving the bus of the University Institute of Technology of the RGPV.


Public gathered at the spot and informed 108 ambulance after which three were taken to hospital where Sana was declared brought dead and other three Siraj, Rani and Shadab are undergoing treatment and their condition is reported to be critical condition. A day before the tragic incident, Siraj, a resident of Piplaiya Jhar, had taken Rani, Sana and Shadab to Bakaniya Bhauri to attend a family function where they stayed on Wednesday night. On Thursday, as he had to go to work therefore he was taking them to drop at Gautam Nagar but in the mid-way they met with this tragic road accident. Police have seized the bus and has booked the accused Farman under Section 304-A (causing death due to rash or negligent act) of the IPC after taking him in custody.
