Congressmen stage gherao of electricity office to oppose serving of exorbitant bills

The Congressmen staged gherao of the electricity company’s office at Mandan Mahal to oppose the serving of exorbitant electricity bills.The complaints about higher electricity bills are increasing day by day in maximum houses but neither officers nor the government are turning deaf ear to the problem. One of the electricity consumer Rajesh arrived at electricity company’s office Madan Mahal to get the problem of higher electricity bill redressed. He said that he is not residing in his home since last three months and his house was locked, even after that electricity bill of Rs 20,000 was served to him. When he asked why higher electricity bill was served to him, the powermen Assistant Engineer Joshi and Renuka Kachi misbehaved with him and he was pushed out of the office. Then he sat on dharna with his wife before the office of electricity company but electricity company officers tried to nab him by calling police.


The victim the intimated Congress leader Saurabh Nati Sharm, Saurabh Sharma City President Dinesh Yadav and 30 to 40 Congress activists also arrived at office and staged dharna and asked to hold talks with AE Joshi. However, even after hours, no officer came to talk to the congressmen, then the congressmen arrived at office of the officer and raised slogans. In the meantime the cops arrived at spot. When the leaders talked with AE, he expressed ignorance about the issue. Annoyed by it, Congress leaders criticised their pathetic attitude towards the common power consumers and warned to make corrections in electricity bills failing, which the electricity company would be responsible for outcome. Saurabh Nati Sharma got the bills of hundreds of people amended and warned that if the wrong bills are not changed aggressive agitation would be started. Saurabha Nati Sharma, Shesh Narayan Prashar, Neeraj Shukla, Sandeep Jain, Sumit Chouhan, Pratyush Jain, Golu, Kailash Thakur and others were also present on the occasion.
