MP Patel stages day-long dharna, hunger strike

“Parliament is temple of democracy and this temple has some principles and dignity. If hurdles are being created in functioning of the Parliament then it is insult of democracy. Nation has suffered losses due to disruption in proceedings of Parliament,” said MP Prahalad Singh Patel while sitting on day-long dharna and hunger strike at Damoh. He started his dharna and hunger strike by offering prayers at ‘Gurudwara’ and paying tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.MP Patel further said that when the country was under British rule, then Mahatma Gandhi use weapons like strike, fast, silent fast to attain freedom of country. Hence following principle of Gandhiji, BJP MPs are sitting on dharna to save democracy. .
MP Patel further said that he considered Atal Bihari Vajpayee as his role model. Former Prime Minister Vajpayee has always guided him that under any circumstances The MP should not go inside the well of the Parliament as it is not good and no work can be done. Hence for development of country it is essential that Parliament should work.


He further said that this is first of its kind in history of India when none BJP MP would take any allowance, salary for period when Parliament was not functioning as when no work no pay.On the occasion, gathering heard live telecast of address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is for the first time when a public representative has selected the venue to stage his dharna in front of gurudwara in Harijan populated area.It may be mentioned that in Bajarai ward no 3 of Damoh city, a historical Gurudwara is situated which foundation stone was laid by Mahatma Gandhi on Dec 2, 1933 and Harijan Sewak Sangh had contributed in construction of this Gurudwara. On the occasion. State BJP Vice President Vinod Gontia, Divisional Organization Minister Ashutosh Tiwari, District BJP President Devnarayan Shrivastava, SC-ST Cell President BD Bawra, General Secretary Raman Khatri, Municipality President Malti Asati, Organization Assistant Vijay Pateria, BJP Kisan Morcha District President Gopal Patel, Pramod Vishwakarma, and others were present.
