Rodents created problems for doctors at Linear Accelerator units of Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (BRAMH) on Thursday. As per information received from Dr Vivek Choudhary, Superintendent of BRAMH, in the present week rodents cut the electrical cables due to which equipments installed for Linear Accelerator could not be operated. He informed that daily over 80 patients from all over the state come for treatment at the centre. The problem occurred on April 10, 11 and 12. The technical staffs took time to rectify the problem and the cables were changed that were damaged by the rodents. Dr Choudhary said that the entire hospital building has been given to the private contractor to check pest and rodents and now that the rodents are present in the hospital in huge numbers, action will be taken against
the company.

Yogesh Jaish, Contractor, told The Hitavada that on Saturday due to sudden rainfall rodents from outside area entered the building through two openings. Some civil works will be carried out in the building to prevent this problem. The cables placed under the trench were targeted by the rodents. Large numbers of electronic equipments are used to run the Linear Accelerator machine. To prevent the radiation effects as per norms the cables are kept under a trench which is about 1.5 feet deep.
