Staff Reporter,

Continuing its investigation further in the ITSPL company case after arresting its All India Coordinator Yogendra Barik, Raipur Police have succeeded in arresting two directors identified as Jagannath Das, 33, and Ashok Jaina, 40. The police have exposed the modus operandi of the accused to cheat in the name of managing CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds of major companies. ITSPL took no money from the unemployed youths, but cheated the centres which imparted training by not paying the centres the money it promised.

Way back in 2008, the ITSPL of today was small computer centre in Ganjam district of Odisha from where its accused director Jagannath Das moved to Kolkata later and started a placement centre there on the basis of which he developed contacts with major companies. The accused came into contact with brokers of the major companies and developed the modus operandi of cheating in the name of managing CSR funds of the companies, informed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Raipur, Amresh Mishra.

A four layer structure was developed in which ITSPL was on the top followed by state level 2-3 companies-Skilling Tech being such a company in Chhattisgarh, then affiliate clusters and finally training centres, which numbered 800 in Chhattisgarh. The police brought this modus operandi to light after a complaint was made in Civil Lines police station recently by Basant Kumar Verma, Director of Skilling Tech.

Verma maintained that the accused Coordinator Yogendra Barik, who has been arrested earlier, had promised him that Rs 8,000 will be paid per student but before that money at the rate of Rs 1,200 per student needed to be deposited in the account of ITSPL. As many as 10,000 students were trained and the said pre-condtion was fulfilled and so was done by other centres in Durg and Raipur. Later, the cheques given by the company got bounced. In Odisha, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana cheques to the tune of near about Rs 80 crore, Rs 10 crore and 5 crore were issued and all got bounced.

The investigation so far has revealed that the cheating has figured Rs 100 crore in the country and in fact ITSPL did not manage the CSR fund of any major company. It even made a website in the name of ITSPL. The accused Jagannath Das, who is the Chairman cum Managing Director of the company, has been arrested from Kolkata. The accused Ashok Jena, Director, has been arrested from Odisha. Police will move application in court for Police Custody Remand of the accused Das.

It is further known that ITSPL developed four courses of training the unemployed and rates at which it took the money against each student from its ground level training centres were Rs 400, 600, 800 and 1200. It did not start any new computer centre, but contacted the existing centres in different regions. The centres for earning offered their students the courses and it is also possible that the centres showed more the number of students it trained than what they trained actually only to earn more money from ITSPL, the SSP said.
