5 men arrested for illegally transporting cattle in truck

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a truck transporting animals to slaughter house and was stopped near Sandha Tiraha under Kotwali police station. The truck was carrying 28 animals beyond capacity of the truck causing serious injuries to the animals. Five accused have been arrested for illegally transporting animals.


According to SHO Kotwali Vibhendu Venkat Tandiya, late on Friday evening an informer informed about a truck (MP 56 GA 0317) carrying animals illegally to Shahdol. Acting on the information, a team was constituted under direction of SDOP Anuppur Umesh Garg. The team comprised DSP Ravendra Jain along with SHO Anuppur Tandiya and others. The team reached Sandha Tiraha.

On seeing police, the truck driver attempted to move out from the spot but as cops in two vehicles, one vehicle overtook the truck and stopped it at some distance from Tiraha spot. Five people inside the truck along with the driver sensing trouble attempted to flee but were apprehended by the police team. The five accused have been identified as Sitaram Kondulal Rathore (23), Rajesh Lalman Rathore both resident from village Pasla, Ashish Gulam Kapadiya Vikram Bhooran Kapadiya resident from Salliya Nagod of Satna district. The truck when searched cops found 28 animals in highly desolate condition.

The truck driver named Sitaram Kondulal Rathore when asked to show the transport permit to transport the animals failed to produce required documents. The animals were being taken to slaughter house at Jumadi village. A case under relevant sections of Animal Atrocity Act and Motor Vehicle Act has been framed against five accused nabbed by police team.
