Staff Reporter,

PERHAPS taking a lesson from the fire incidents happed in city recently and delay caused in ensuring timely service and response on those spots, now the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to set up as many as seven new fire stations in the city.
The civic body currently operates 10 fire stations and that these new seven stations will save the time which it takes in seeking help from other institutions whenever there is any incident of inferno.

In the cases of fire incident occurred at Saket Nagar on April 9, where 60 shanties were reduced to ashes in the fire incident at Bairagarh that took place last year where several shops housed in a commercial complex were gutted in the fire incident, the civic body had to seek help from institutions like BHEL, army, airport authorities, police department and even fire tenders were called from Sehore and other neighbouring areas.

Keeping in view the time it takes in coordinating with these fire teams, the BMC has decided to open seven new centres in the city.
The new fire stations will be opened in the areas of DIG Bungalow at Bairasia road, Karond Sabji Mandi, Anand Nagar at Raisen road, near C-21 mall at Hoshangabad road, Neelbad at Sooraj Nagar, Shyamla hills guest house and at Bhauri.
However, the chances of opening of these centres are very less for the current year despite the rising incidents of fire in the city.

BMC fire officer Rameshwar Neel said that the fire stations which are proposed, will help us in ensuring speedy help at the spots as sometimes the blazes go out of control very fast and delay proves fatal.
