Civic authorities demolished many illegal structures sticking out of the shops at Pandri on early Saturday morning.
Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) officials unheard the pleas of shopkeepers as the backhoe loaders began taking down the illegal extensions in front of the shops amidst heavy security by police personnel.

The anti-encroachment drive covered the shops which had extensions made in front of them and also those having shutters on both sides of the road.
RMC anti-encroachment squad began the drive at Pandri with crack of the dawn at 5:30 am. The shopkeepers causing obstructions on the road have been taken to the task. Some of them had made illegal structures extending up to road in front of their shops.

Anti-encroachment was followed by notices served to them nearly a month ago, yet they didn’t comply. RMC even held a meeting with Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) on Friday evening over the issue.
Raipur Municipal Corporation sidelined the pressure put by business community and went ahead with the action.
Notably, it’s a highly congested area which often has logjam mostly because of the
obstruction caused by shops.
