‘Road Safety Week’ from April 23

The Traffic Police Department Raipur will observe 29th ‘Road Safety Week’ from April 23 to 30, 2018 on the direction of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.The Department will synergise efforts with various departments and non-government organisations to raise awareness and disseminate road safety measures. Cooperation of transport organisations, auto dealers, and advertisement agencies will also be sought in the awareness campaign. Although, Road Safety Week is still a week away, Traffic Police officials held meeting with the auto rickshaw association and drivers on Sunday. Prime objective of meeting was to instil discipline in auto drivers, who are often found obstructing traffic while waiting for passengers on road.

Police officials sought the cooperation of auto rickshaw drivers and warned of stern actions on the flouting of traffic rules.
Traffic Police gave categorical instructions to the auto drivers such as wearing uniforms while driving, drop or pick passengers at fixed stops, don’t allow passengers on sides of the driver or take passengers more than the capacity, no misbehaving with passengers, put names of auto driver and owner at easily discernible place inside auto rickshaw, always carry necessary documents, no auto drivers shall involve in criminal activities, immediately inform police on passengers leaving their belongings in the vehicle and on the condition of spotting any criminal activity, auto registration is mandatory, safety rods in school auto, safety belt and hanger for kids, no drunk driving, and do not ask excessive fair from passengers and auto registered under pre-paid system shall only take passengers after getting receipt.
