North Bastar-Raipur connected through rail

The 17-km Bhanupratappur-Gudum, which was dedicated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Bijapur visit on Saturday, has connected North Bastar (Kanker) to the state capital, Raipur. The rail connectivity between Kanker and Raipur would be a boon for Kanker and its adjoining areas as passenger train will run between Kanker and Raipur after the completion of the Bhanupratappur-Gudum line. With it, North Bastar has placed itself on the rail map of India. It is worthwhile to mention, the Prime Minster dedicated the service through video conferencing from Jangla village of Bijapur district. Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Union health minister J P Nadda and other ministers from Chhattisgarh were present on the occasion.

The newly dedicated service by the Prime Minister is a part of Dallirajhara-Rawghat-Jagdalpur 235-km rail project. Under the project, 95-km Dallirajhara-Rawghat rail line is being constructed at the cost of Rs 1,142 crore. Meanwhile, the passenger train 78815 Raipur-Bhanupratappur-Demu and 78818 Bhanupratappur-Durg will run regularly. As per the time-table declared by the railway, 78815 Raipur-Bhanupratappur-Demu will depart from Raipur at 9.20 am in the morning and reach Bhanupratappur at 1.15 pm via Durg, Maroda, Pavwara, Risama, Gundardehi, Sikosa, Latabor, Balod, Kusumkasa, Dallirajhara and Gudum. Similarly, 78818 Bhanupratappur-Durg-Demu will depart from Bhannupratappur at 1.25 pm and reach Durg at 4.20 pm.
