A trooper belonging to District Reserve Guard (DRG) sustained critical injuries when he came in the impact of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near Chintagufa police station late Sunday evening. The incident occurred near Chintagufa weekly market where the personnel were present to collect some inputs, some 600 metres away from Chintagufa police station, informed the police sources.
Confirming the incident, Dantewada Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Sunderraj P informed, DRG trooper Devnath Dhuvar had sustained injuries in his eyes due to IED blast occurred late Sunday evening at Chintagufa village. “Condition of the injured personnel is alright and he is being treated at a hospital in Raipur”, the DIG said.

While searching the site where blast occurred another IED in a milk container was detected by the bomb technicians of 150th battalion on Monday. The IED was found buried about 6 inches underneath the ground. According to police sources, the second IED was recovered at a distance of about 3 meters from the site where IED blast occurred on Sunday evening.
This metallic container with two litres capacity was buried in lateral position. Both IEDs might have been connected in series but due to some snag in the circuitry, the second one, which was detected on Monday, could not trigger. As per police, the trigger point and blast/recovered point of IEDs were found not to be in line of site.

The police sources apprehend that there must be a second person involved who might have indicated the bomber to trigger the IEDs on arrival of DRG troopers near the IEDs. Splinters recovered from blast site indicate that blasted IED which injured DRG trooper was also contained in a 2 litre milk container. Till the report last, the recovered IED was successfully demolished by Bomb Techs/150 Bn.
