Seminar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ on 26th

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising second edition of seminar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Exposition on Innovations and Technologies - 2018’ on April 26 at the auditorium of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, near SSC Board, Civil Lines.Anoop Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, will inaugurate the seminar at 10.30 am being organised to mark the World Intellectual Property Day. The theme is ‘Powering Change: Women in Innovation and Creativity’ by World Intellectual Property Organisation.

Around 170 delegates such as industry members, young entrepreneurs and students from various parts of the country are expected to participate in it.This was stated by Rahul Dixit, Chairman of CII, Vidarbha Zone Council, while addressing a press conference at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, which is extending active cooperation to the seminar, here on Tuesday.Dixit said that the objective of the seminar was to create awareness on importance of Intellectual Property Right (IPR) to innovation, embrace innvoation and IPR driven eco-system amongst stakeholders and industry.
The programme will sensitise the participants on how intellectual property system supports innovation and to celebrate creativity and contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of socities across the globe as well to encourage respect for Intellectual Property Rights.

“It is very necessary to create awareness among industry members and students on leverage of IPR for protection of innovation, patent, copyright and commercialisation for one’s benefits,” he said. Dixit admitted that people do not know much about various benefits and hence CII wants to reach and enlighten them on various aspects, he added.
Dixit pointed out that the seminar would provide a platform to interact with key IP players from Government, industry and academia to deliberate and discuss on contribution of IPR to the global community. The agenda of the seminar includes: Introduction to Intellectual Property Rights and commercialisation, patenting procedure, trademarks, geographical indication, copyrights, case studies and paper presentations. eminent speakers, policy makers and IP experts from industry, law firms and institutions would share their knowledge and experience.

CII is also providing opportunity to industries, start-ups, students and academia to showcase their strengths by displaying their innovations, technologies, projects, patents, models etc.Pankaj Borkar, Deputy Controller of Patent Design and Chief of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IPM, Vijay Rawal, Vice-Chairman, CII, Vidarbha Zone, Chhaya Satpute, Senior Documentation Officer and Pooja Maulikar, Examiner, Patent and Design, were present at the press conference.
