Centre gives nod to 3 new trains for C’garh

New Delhi/Raipur

Centre on Wednesday sanctioned three new trains for Chhattisgarh. The new trains include Raipur-Ferozepur Chhattisgarh Antyodaya Express, Kolkata-Bilaspur-Pune Humsafar Express and Jabalpur-Bilaspur-Kolkata Humsafar Express. On the request of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, the name of express train between Raipur and Ferozepur was changed as Chhattisgarh Antyodaya Express, which the Chief Minister urged to flag-off on May Day on the occasion of CM Dr Raman Singh during his ongoing visit to the National Capital, met Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday. During the significant meeting discussions were held on expansion, strengthening of rail infrastructure and enhancement of passenger amenities.


The Union Railway Minister while agreeing to the Chief Minister’s request towards increasing sanctioned grant from existing Rs 11 crore to Rs 26 crore for upgrading Dongargarh railway station and expansion of facilities for passengers, issued necessary instructions regarding the same. During the meeting, the CM demanded to bring down the fares of Kirandul-Vishakhapatnam special train and it should run on all week days. The Union Railway Minister accepted the demand and said it will be implemented from July. The agreement was made in the meeting to extend Durg-Raipur passenger train to Naya Raipur Mandir Hasaud Railway station. Rail Board officials informed the meeting that DPR of Raoghat-Jagdalpur rail line has also been sanctioned. Secretary to CM Subhodh Kumar and other senior officials of the Railway Board were present at the meeting.
