Goods worth Rs 90 lakh gutted in plyboard factory

Goods worth several lakhs were turned into ashes after a major fire broke out in the Govindpura Industrial Area in a plyboard factory within the limits of Ashoka Garden police in the wee hours of Wednesday. According to sources, the fire broke out in Bharatiya Udyog, a plyboard factory of Habib Khan located in H-Sector of Govindpura Industrial Area at around 5:30 am on Wednesday. Goods worth Rs 90 lakh were gutted in the flames.The team of fire brigade was then informed after which as many as 10 fire tenders, including 7 fire fighters and water supply capsules, were pressed into action. The teams battled for over four hours to douse the flames.

According to BMC officer Sajid Khan, the team received information at around 5:50 am that a plyboard factory has caught fire in the industrial area. As soon as the team rushed to the place, the fire had turned into a major blaze.The fire teams from Govindpura fire station were pouring water on it but seeing its intensity, another team from the Bogda pull fire station and Fatehgarh fire station were also pressed into action. Khan said that the factory did not have fire fighting equipment when we took stock of the factory after controlling the fire.
