World Intellectual Property Day celebrated

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in co-operation with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM) celebrated World Intellectual Property Day on Thursday with 2nd edition of seminar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Exposition on Innovations & Technologies 2018’ with the theme “Fostering innovation & IP for a better tomorrow” at RGNIIPM. The seminar focused on various aspects of IPR, trademarks, geographical indication(GI), copyrights etc.

The programme was inaugurated by Anoop Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur, who was the chief guest. Rahul Dixit, Chairman of CII, Vidarbha Zonal Council welcomed the participants, Prashant Godbole, Director, Godbole Gates Pvt Ltd., focused on the commercialisation of IPR, Chhaya Satpute, Senior Documentation Officer, RGNIIPM also expressed her thoughts whereas Vijay Rawal, Vice-Chairman of CII, Vidarbha Zonal Council proposed vote
of thanks There were three technical sessions. They include introduction to IPR & commercialization delivered by Satpute, patenting by Pankaj P Borkar, Deputy Controller of Patents, trademarks, geographical indications (GI) and copyrights respectively by Sona Kumar.

During the third technical session there was paper presentation on IP case studies, Pooja Maulikar, examiner of patents and designs proposed the vote of thanks.The winners of the paper presentation were Dr S S Baghchi won the award. She presented paper on Nano technologies for farms. Shilpa Rathod was first runner-up and she presented paper on trademarks. Shrustika Bagul was second runner-up who presented paper on pain relax herbal powder.The jury members were Dr S M Rajan, CICL, Dr Manali Kshirsagar, Principal RGEC, Sona Kumar, GH Raisoni Law, Dr U Guha, IP Attorney and Dr Payal Thaorey, PGTD of Law.
