It is estimated that cervical cancer will occur in approximately 1 in 53 Indian women during their lifetime compared with 1 in 100 women in more developed regions of the world. To tackle the growing menace of this deadly disease Alexis Multispecialty Hospital, Nagpur launched a ‘Chance to Change’ campaign last year aiming to spread the awareness on early detection and prevention of cervical cancer. This was announced by Zanubia Shams, Co-Chairperson of Alexis Multispecialty Hospital while speaking at a press conference here in the city on Sunday.

The Chance to Change - Cervical Cancer campaign was led by renowned cancer expert and professor of medicine from the University of California, San Francisco, Dr Pamela Munster, who is a cancer survivor herself and is championing this cause for the Zulekha group of hospitals in India and UAE. The campaign also launched a special cervical screening package. The package includes PAP smear test and consultation by gynaecologist. Dr Munster launched the year’s campaign along with management team members from Alexis Multispeciality Hospital.

Dr Munster said, “The campaign focuses on encouraging young girls to be vaccinated early and women to come forward and assess themselves early to ensure timely treatments and prevention of cervical cancer.
