BEWARE! Diarrhoea cases on rise in State capital

With summer season setting its foot, water-borne diseases have started to raise their heads in various parts of the city. Among them, diarrhoea has emerged as a common disease and patients suffering from this particular disease are reaching hospitals for treatment in large number.Dr Mohit Gupta, Medical Officer of Government Hamidia Hospital, talking to ‘The Hitavada’ said that around 40 to 50 patients are coming to Hamidia Hospital daily with complaints of diarrhoea. He advised people that in summer season one should take healthy and light food rather than heavy food. If anyone suffers from loose and watery stools then one should immediately rush to hospitals rather than taking medicines by according to his understanding. Dr Chourasia, Medical Officer at Government JP Hospital, said that daily, around 20 to 30 diarrhoea patients are coming to hospital. He added that people needs to be careful while choosing food in summer season as the most common cause of diarrhoea is non healthy food and stale food. To quench their thirst, people also take traditional cold drinks available at roadside shops and this is dangerous for their health. In summer season people eat junk food during their evening walks which takes days to get digested and results in poor health. During summer season people should eat selective and take light diets. They should take more fluid to reduce risk of diarrhoea. Also patients suffering from diarrhea should take more hydrating fluid and healthy food. Doctors are also advising people to consume clean water to avoid water borne diseases.
