Shikshakarmis boycott evaluation of Class X, XII answer sheets

Around 24,000 shikshakarmis across state reportedly boycotted evaluation work on Tuesday after their meeting with Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, scheduled to be held on April 2, cancelled due to some unavoidable reasons. Shikshak (Panchayat/Nagar Nigam) Morcha state coordinator Virendra Dubey said that the shikshakarmis engaged in evaluation work of Class XII and Class X CGBSE Examinations-2018 remained off the duty on Tuesday in support of their demand of merger. He said that the shikshakarmis will evaluate answer sheets of the students tying black badge around their arms on Wednesday as a mark of protest against state’s apathy towards fulfillment of their demand.

Even as the shikshakarmis, deployed on evaluation duty, reached their respective evaluation centres, but they did not participate in evaluation process. As per their plan, shikshakarmis will also stage demonstration at district headquarters on Wednesday. District coordinators Sanjay Sharma in Bilaspur, Virendra Dubey in Raipur, Kedar Jain in Kondagaon, Chandradev Rai in Baloda Bazaar and Vikas
Singh Rajput in Durg will lead the demonstration in the respective districts.It is worthwhile to mention, the meeting between Chief Minister and Shikshakarmis was fixed for Monday. However, the meeting was postponed for a week. Shikshakarmis said that they changed their plan of action after observing Chief Minister’s positive stand on the issue. Earlier, shikshakarmis decided to stay themselves away from evaluation for indefinite period from April 3, but they brought change to their plan and observed strike for one day.
School Education Secretary Gaurav Dwivedi told this newspaper that all possible measures will be taken for the sake of students as well as shikshakarmis. There will be no delay in declaration of results due to boycott or other such activities, he assured.
