Shocking: 14-yr-old girl found smoking hookah

The cops arrested owner of Haveli hookah parlour for allowing teenagers to smoke tobacco substance


The raiding police party was stunned to find a 14-year-old girl smoking hookah containing psychotropic substance including tobacco, at an illegal hookah parlour in Ambazari Police Station area on Monday. Not only did the cops find this teenage girl there but were further stunned to see other 7 to 8 teenage youths enjoying the hookah. The cops asked the teenagers to leave the place immediately and arrested the manger and the owner of Haveli hookah parlour.


Acting on a tip-off, a team of Crime Branch conducted raids at five hookah parlours in Ambazari area on Monday including Copa Cafe, Amravati road; Three Bags Full, Amravati road; Nine Restaurant, near
Laxmi Bhavan square; Spades, near Laxmi Bhavan square and Haveli hookah parlour. The police team noticed nine juveniles smoking hookah in the Haveli hookah parlour.


The police have seized hookah pots and other material from the spot. The cops ahve arrested owner - Sumit Sahebrao Gopale (25), a resident of New Futala, Ambazari under Sections 77 of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act read with Sub-sections 4, 6 and 21 of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).


A police officer said that the hookah parlour was operating since last two years. The accused was allowing the teenagers only to book high profits.


Under the guidance of DCP (Detection) Sambhaji Kadam, the raid was conducted by Police Inspector Mudgal, PSIs PSI Pendkar and Tripathi.
