MSEDCL electrifies all villages of Vidarbha

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has electrified all the villages of Vidarbha after power reached the last village of Tumirkasa in Gadchiroli district. By end of last financial year, the state power distribution utility electrified every village in Vidarbha allotted to it as part of its drive to provide electricity to every village in State by end of December 2018. About 38 villages had remained at start of year 2017-18 where electricity had not reached by traditional method. But that backlog has been remove.Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule had directed MSEDCL officials to reach out to every village, through conventional or unconventional energy.

In Vidarbha region, there is large forest cover in districts of Gadchiroli, Gondia, Amravati and Yavatmal which made it difficult to lay traditional power cables. Hence MSEDCL officials sorted out villages where works were pending and at other places MahaUrja is installing solar energy projects to provide power to villagers. Now MahaUrja is entrusted job to electrify one village in Yavatmal district and 28 villages in Gadchiroli district. Work orders for providing solar panels and laying power cable in villages has started. Maximum 66 villages in Gadchiroli district were in remote areas and could not be connected to traditional power grid. One village respectively was in Nagpur and Amravati districts but MSEDCL on its own reached all villages in these two districts.

Acting under the leadership of Sanjeev Kumar, Managing Director, MSEDCL, Bhalchandra Khandait, Regional Director, Dilip Ghughal, Chief Engineer, Chandrapur Zone, Ashok Mhaske, Superintending Engineer, Gadchiroli Circle, Amit Paranjape and Yuvraj Meshram, Executive Engineers, worked hard to complete the target. Shailesh Washimkar, Additional Executive Engineer, was Nodal Officer, for ensuring completion of electrification project. The funds for providing electricity to remote village was ensued by Guardian Minister Raje Ambrishrao Atram through various Government scheme. Apart from that MSEDCL has relaid power cables to stabilise power supply in 115 villages of Gadchiroli district. They are part of 201 villages where power infrastructure had taken a beating due to natural calamities. Remaining village power infrastructure would be repaired by June end.
