2 drug peddlers held with smack worth 10 lakh

A COMBINED team of Crime Branch and Omti police nabbed two drug peddlers in two separate cases and seized 100 grams smack from them worth Rs 10 lakh in international market.


The accused were identified as Bablu Sonkar, son of Gyanchand Sonkar, a resident of Bhartipur and Chintu Sonkar (23), son of Raju Sonkar, a resident of Bhartipur. Officiating Superintendent of Police Kumar Saurabh disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Saturday.


Under the direction of Officiating SP Kumar Saurabh, police have started a special campaign against illegal trade and transportation of narcotic substances under supervision of Additional SP (Crime), Sandeep Mishra, Additional SP (City) and Additional SP (North), Rajesh Tiwari. During the special campaign, police received information of a suspected man involved in trade of narcotic substances.


Taking prompt action on the information, a police team comprising Crime Branch, SI, Abhilash Mishra, Constables, Gyanendra, Ashwani, Shashi, Sadik Khan and Omti’s SI, Shailendra Patel, Head Constable, Murari Dubey, Javed and Satyendra started search and trapped the suspected man when he was waiting for a customer near Ghoda Hospital. In his search, police team seized smack in a packet weighing around 60 grams. Similarly, police received a tip-off that a man involved in drug peddling was sighted near Gurandi Square, Matka Bazar. Acting on the information, police team comprising Crime Branch’s Shailendra Pateva, Satyendra Dubey, Rajababu Sonkar, Woman Constable, Neha Dubey, Omti’s SI, H R Kaurav, Head Constable, K K Dubey and Constable, Rohit succeeded in apprehending the accused and seized 40 grams smack from him. Omti police have registered two separate cases against the accused under Sections 8, 21 of the NDPS Act while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other people working in network of narcotics trade.
