Hockey lovers had a spectacular evening on Saturday as Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Punjab Police Jalandhar face off in title clash. However, IOCL lifted the Champions Trophy of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial All India Gold Cup Hockey Tournament 2018 when the match entered the penalty shoot-out.

Drag flicker Raghunath V R, who is also the captain of IOCL, opened the account for his team when he converted a penalty corner into goal in the 6th minute of the match to take 1-0 lead. However, the score was soon levelled when Gurwinder Singh scored a field goal for Punjab Police in the 20th minute. IOCL again took lead of 2-1 when Affan Yusuf scored field goal in the 26th minute.

It looked like IOCL will reach home safely when Punjab Police scored a field goal in the 68th minute of the match and it came from Karanbir Singh. After the match ended in draw in the regulation time, result was decided through penalty shoot-out.

IOCL emerged as winner in the penalty shoot-out as it hit net thrice while Punjab police could hit only one goal.
