SECR to spend Rs 6 cr on modern shelter to RPF staff

Biggest 100-bed barrack to be constructed at Motibagh

SOUTH East Central Railway’s (SECR) Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, who provide armed escort on various long distance trains and protect railway properties, will soon have new modern shelters in Nagpur Division.
Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC), RPF SECR, Ashutosh Pandey informed The Hitavada that the division would spend Rs 6 crore for construction of eight new barracks for RPF personnel including four for women staff.

The barracks would provide shelter to RPF’s train escorting teams and staff living without families. Earlier, the RPR SECR had no separate barracks for its woman staff.
The Railway Protection Force staff was using age-old barracks without basic amenities. Now, the situation will change soon with the Ministry of Railways sanctioning Rs six crore for construction of the barracks, on the request of Nagpur Division.

As per the plan, the existing 100 bedded barrack at Motibagh and 30 bedded each at Itwari, Gondia and Dongargarh would be upgraded with modern amenities including central air cooling systems and gymnasium. Besides, 10 bedded barracks for women staff would be constructed at Itwari, Motibagh, Gondia and Dongargarh stations. An RPF post with barracks will be constructed at Bhandara, Chhindwara and Nagbhir stations.

The RPF officials are finalising drawings of the barracks after which tenders would be floated. The officials are expecting to provide new shelters to its staff within six months.
