A 3-day workshop based on Energy Management and Energy Efficiency was conducted by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in association with Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) and Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Authority (CREDA), which concluded on Saturday.

During the workshop, subject specialists from BEE trained 40 field officials from CSPDCL and CREDA in Energy Management and Energy Efficiency. Now that these 40 officials, who are posted in different parts of the state, will be providing training to their subordinates so that energy can be managed properly so that it is used efficiently. They will further encourage people towards saving electricity in their respective areas. These officials were also provided with citation on completion of training.

During the workshop, BEE Trainer Anil Kumar Goyal informed that nowadays smart meters are available which provides power consumption date on per hour basis and when this data is analyzed, necessary steps can be taken towards saving power. He said there should be awareness for saving power among every consumer as well as power company officials.

Addressing the august gathering CSPC Director G C Mukherjee said in year 1947, the country used to generate 1500MW power while as on year 2018 the power generation quantum has increased to 3.25 lakh MW, of which, 85 percent power is generated from thermal power plants. He said if the consumer save 1 unit of power, then it amounts to saving of 3 unit of power actually. For burning 1 kg of coal it requires 3kg of oxygen and it generates 7kg of CO2. Hence if power is saved it not only saves money but also saves environment. Addressing the august gathering Sanjeev Jain Chief Engineer CREDA said the amount of energy saved equals to energy generated.

Present on the occasion CSPDCL ED Prahlad Singh, Chief Engineer R B Tripathi and Additional Chief Engineer J R Patel, who also gave inspiration towards saving energy. Energy Consultant ICF representative Mrinal Saurav informed that they are carrying out training with BEE and till date they have completed 44 training workshops for DISCOMS in seven states.
