2 Nagpur-based cos to display products in Defexpo 2018

Defexpo 2018 to commence in Chennai from April 11 to 14

IN the race of defence manufacturers from all over the world, two Nagpur-based companies are among others to display their products to the world in the upcoming Defexpo 2018 that will commence in Chennai from April 11 to 14.
Solar Group and Sandeep Metalcraft Pvt Ltd, both are going to display its world-class products in this international event that conducts after every two years.

Both companies have scripted a major success story in defence production under the Central Government’s ‘Make in India’ policy initiative. Solar Group is the largest manufacturer of industrial explosives and initiating systems in the country. The firm has been manufacturing civil and industrial explosives, mostly used in mining, cement and related industries.

It is the first company in India to start indigenous production of high melting explosives (HMX) along with several of its components.

HMX and its components are used in warheads of shoulder-fired anti-tank rockets such as 84mm Carl Gustav HEAT Ammunition, Invar and Konkur missiles; especially in long range surface-to-air missiles. Similarly, Sandeep Metalcraft Pvt Ltd, is a largest manufacturer of Ammunition Fuses in India that making the most volume and variety compared to any other establishment in the country.


Defence products are very critical in nature, involving stringent quality checks and extensive final assembly testing. This firm also produces small arm assemblies, aerospace products, automobile products etc. to cater the defence requirement export such products to USA, South Africa and Israel. It has pioneered in the design, development and manufacturing of many components and sub-assemblies for small arm weapons. The weapons are in the category of Carbines, Rifles, Machine Guns and Personal Weapons and are of various calibre’s like 5.56, 7.62, 9mm etc.

Visitors can experience the products at Defexpo 18 in Tiruvidandai near Mahabalipuram, Chennai from April 11-14. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Defence Expo 2018 on April 12. As many as 671 exhibitors have confirmed their participation, including 517 Indian exhibitors and 47 official delegations from various countries have confirmed their participation. Companies such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Saab, Airbus, Rafale, Rosonboron Exports, United Shipbuilding, BAE Systems, Sibat, Wartsila, Rhode and Schwarz will participate in this mega event.
