Section 144 clamped against ‘Bharat Bandh’ on 10th

SECTION 144 has been imposed across the district and gathering of more than 50 people will not be tolerated under any circumstances as preventive action against Bharat Bandh call on April 10. The State Government has declared the Bandh illegal Hence, any movement in support of the Bandh will be dealt on a serious note. All the organisations of the region who have lent support to the Bandh have been categorically asked to refrain from observing any kind of Bandh. These directives were given by DIG Jabalpur B S Chauhan, Collector and District Magistrate Chhavi Bhardwaj and Officiating Superintendent of Police Kumar Saurabh during an important meeting organised at police control room on Sunday evening in view of proposed Bharat Bandh call on April 10.

Collector Chhavi Bhardwaj, when contacted, informed that the meeting was called on Sunday evening with members and representatives of various social organisations who have expressed solidarity towards the Bandh. The main agenda was to make it clear that no agitation will be permitted on April 10. She said the proposed Bandh happens to be retaliation of the Bandh observed on April 2 by various organisations. The district administration had called a meeting of various social organisations to apprise them that the bandh call has been termed illegal by the State Government and any attempt to support the same will be dealt with stringent action.

All SDMs and SHOs have been instructed to ensure that under no circumstances there are any agitations and the Bandh is supported. While Superintendent of Police Jabalpur Kumar Saurabh said we have categorically informed social organisations to refrain from Bandh call. Sources informed that members and representatives present in the meeting expressed their solidarity for Bharat Bandh on April 10. Despite the fact that top brass including DIG Jabalpur, DM Jabalpur, Superintendent of Police Jabalpur made it categorical that no attempts to support the call will be tolerated.
