Hundreds of women from different villages in Rokbahar gram panchayat of Patthalgaon development block took to streets for a noble cause as they organised a rally and launched a door-to-door campaign to get their panchayat free from intoxication. During their efforts, they appeal the villagers to stop consuming intoxicated materials while making them aware about the evil effects of these materials. As per information, rallies taken out by the women traversed through different areas across the district and with the help of banners and posters local villagers were informed about the harmful effects of consuming intoxicants. It is worthwhile to mention, in the past also similar rallies were organised by the villagers and response was overwhelming. People of many villages stopped consuming intoxicated materials.Besides, with a view to persuade large number of people, women also paid door-to-door visit and made villagers pledge that from now onwards they will not produce or consume liquor nor they will allow any other person of the village to do the same. It is worth mentioning here that the initiative to make local villagers aware about the harmful use of intoxicants was taken on directives of Kotba police and Gramin Mahila Sarpanch. Following which investigation is being carried out on regular basis so as to ensure that strict actions are taken against people who illegally stock liquor in their house.
