Four suicides in a day rock city

A 25-year-old lensman hanged himself to death in his home at Dullhichand Ka Bagh near Futa Makabara under Hanumanganj Police Station on Wednesday afternoon. SHO of Hanumanganj, Sudesh Tiwari said that before taking the extreme step, the deceased had sent a text message on the phone of one of his friends, Ankit Thakur, that he is going and that the latter should forgive him. It is also said that the deceased has also taken debt that he was unable to clear.

As soon as Ankit received the text at around 4 pm, he sprinted towards his home sensing trouble, however, before he could reach lensman’s home, the latter had hanged himself. The deceased has been identified as Pavan Namdev, 25, son of Fatehchand, who used to work as photographer, while his mother worked as handicraft worker. His father had already passed away and Pavan was still unmarried. On Wednesday evening, the deceased did not go to work while his mother Uma Bai went for the work and he was alone at the time when he sent the text and later hanged himself. Till Ankit reached Pavan’s home, he had already hanged self to death by making noose of his mother’s sari. Police has not found any suicide note from the spot except the text in which he also sought an apology from his mother.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a 55-year-old man committed suicide by hanging self in Gunga locality on Tuesday night. According to Gunga police, deceased Narmada Prasad, 55, son of Dhaniram, a resident of Pardhi village was a labourer and on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday he hanged self to death. No suicide note was left by the deceased whereas family members told police that he used to remain distressed from past few days.
