Girl ends life by jumping from multi-storey bldg in Gwarighat

In a tragic incident, a girl committed suicide by jumping from a multi-storey building near Badshah Halwai Mandir under the jurisdiction of Gwarighat police station, on Wednesday morning.The deceased has been identified as Mayurika Chouhan (21), a resident of Napier Town and third year student of Polytechnic College. SHO of Gwarighat police station, Rakesh Tiwari informed that police received information that a girl committed suicide by jumping from Krishna Heights building. Acting promptly on the information, a police team reached the spot and found the body of girl named Mayurika Chouhan in pool of blood.


Receiving the information, maternal aunty of girl named Shalini Narang, a resident of Napier Town, reached the spot and informed that Mayurika was third year student in Polytechnic College. She left home for attending her coaching class at around 8 am. Investigating the case, police witnessed recording of CCTV installed at the building and witnessed the girl who reached at Krishna Heights in an auto-rickshaw. She paid money to auto-rickshaw driver and reached on roof-top of building through stairs and jumped to the ground. Learning about the incident, a large number of residents and passers-by gathered near the building. Police sent the body for post-mortem after conducting Panchnama at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital. Gwarighat police have registered intimation while further investigations are underway to ascertain reason behind extreme step of girl.
