Co-accused in blackmailing case of Congress MLA Hemant Katare, Vikramjeet Singh surrendered before the local court of Bhopal on Wednesday. Court sent him to two-day police remand. During the remand period, police will try to know about his alleged role in case and other related facts. It was suddenly that Vikramjeet Singh reached the court premises and surrendered himself before the court during noon hours. Police have demanded remand of three days but court sent Vikramjeet Singh on two days remand. Notably, a journalist student had levelled serious charges against Congress MLA Hemant Katare. On the other hand, Katare had accused her of demanding lakhs of rupees from him. It was on the complaint of Hemant Katare that girl student was arrested and sent to jail. Later, accused girl student had lodged a complaint from jail, accusing Katare of outraging her modesty after befriending him. Acting on girl’s complaint, police have booked Hemant Katare under rape charge. However, Katare managed to get stay from his arrest.

Some days back, dramatic change came in case when accused girl held a press conference in Jabalpur, saying that she had levelled false charges on the instance of BJP leader Arvind Bhadoriya and some other persons, including Vikramjeet. It was from the starting of the case that co-accused Vikramjeet Singh was absconding and police could not arrest him despite making all efforts. This case has taken political hues as Congress is now demanding registration of case against Arvind Bhadoria. Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh told that even after submission of affidavit in High Court by the accused girl, police have not acted in case and it is unfortunate.
