Women advocates call off protest

The demonstration protest called by women advocate members of the Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association was called off after assurance to arrest accused of insulting the Medical Officer of Government Victoria Hospital Dr Rachna Shukla. The protest was staged on Wednesday. In the protest, a large number of MPHCBA members, lawyers, law students and social workers participated and expressed their resentment against insensitive approach and inaction of police in this case.

Lawyers during protest closed the roads connecting High Court Square to SP Office. For over an hour, the traffic remained choked on both ends. Lawyers protesting against the inaction and insensitive approach of police encouraged the accused, who had insulted a lady doctor using un-parliamentary words inside the Police Station and also in the Government Hospital, where she is posted and threatened her. Expressing resentment against the insensible act of the Police Departmentthe protesting lawyers strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders including Chief Minister and State President for showing no interest in this sensitive case in which a lady Doctor was insulted by some people having political influence and are connected to the ruling party of the State. Even the FIR was lodged after directions given by Collector. Lawyers have demanded resignation of BJP leaders on moral grounds. In holding roadblock during demonstration, members of Junior Lawyers Association, Jai Rewakhand Kshtra Parishad, law students and members of Madhya Pradesh Pragatisheel Brahmin Mahasabha were present in protest. The protesting lawyers were demanding immediate arrest of the accused in this case as well as on registering complaint about incident, she was insulted with using abusive language inside the police station and threatened to face the dyer consequences. When CSP Omti, Shashikant Shukla hold talk with the protesting lawyers, MPHCBA, President, Adarsh Muni Trivedi along with office bearers and members have asked the Police to declare arrest time limit in hours. thereafter, CSP after holding talk with police officials declared to arrest the accused in 72 hours.
