Another BSP worker dies on duty, third death in 3 consecutive days

Three fatal accidents reported in a span of three days at Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) should be considered as a matter of serious concern. It may be mentioned that in the past two days two contract workers died at BSP and on the third consecutive day on Thursday another contract worker died on spot in T&D Department of BSP. Trade union office bearers
have alleged BSP management and the concerned contractual firm of negligence. It was informed that the deceased contract worker was identified as Indrajit (22), son of Tikaram, a resident of village Patan, Durg. At about 3:15 am on Thursday, Indrajeet, the contract worker was working as a porter at Way-Bridge 2 in T&D Department of Blast Furnace -7, while joining the ladle during shunting he came in between the couplings and died on spot.


The officials and employees present on the occasion rushed him to Main Medical Post where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The police recorded the unnatural death and sent the body for autopsy. Public Relation Department, Bhilai Steel Plant officials informed that on Thursday, Indrajeet, the PRW contract worker under HSCL was deployed at T&D Department as porter. While working in ‘C’ Shift, he was found unconscious at around 3.25 am near Way Bridge-2 of BF-7. He was taken to MMP-1, BSP where the doctors declared him brought dead because of multiple injuries.
