BJP’s ‘Vikas Yatra’ begins tomorrow

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh will be launching the statewide ‘Vikas Yatra’ from May 12 from Dantewada after paying obeisance to Maa Danteshwari. The preparation for the ‘Vikas Yatra’ is being carried on war footings. Talking to mediapersons soon after returning from Bengaluru on Thursday at Swami Vivekananda Airport, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said while answering a query said he had initiated the ‘Vikas Yatras’ earlier in 2008 and 2013 from Dantewada after obeisance to Maa Danteshwari and this time is no different. He said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be inaugurating the ‘Vikas Yatra’. He said during yatras in 2003, 2008 and 2013 the Union Home Minister had played significant role and this time also he will be participating in the Yatra.

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said BJP National President Amit Shah will also participate in the ‘Vikas Yatra’, although the dates are yet to be fixed. He said he had intended that the Vikas Yatra would be inaugurated by Shah but due to his busy schedule due to Karnataka elections, he couldn’t attend the inaugural ceremony. But it is for sure that the BJP National President will be participating in the ‘Vikas Yatra’ at any point of time. Commenting on the Congress’ planning of launching ‘Vikas Khojo Yatra’, the Chief Minister said the Congress doesn’t understand development. He said the Congress has been doing the same since last 15 years, which aptly proves that Congress which has not carried out any development works, doesn’t understands what development is.

The first phase of ‘Vikas Yatra’, which will commence from May 12 and continue till June 11, during this month-long programme, the Chief Minister will be holding mega public meetings in all 90 Assembly segments. The second phase will commence from August 17-18 and will continue till September 18. During the ‘Vikas Yatra’, the Chief Minister will be dedicating and laying foundation stones for various development works also. During the ‘Vikas Yatra’, paddy bonus against paddy procurement for Kharif 2017-18 will be distributed along with support amount to chana (growing) farmers.

During ‘Vikas Yatra’, the Chief Minister will also distribute bonus and charan paduka (sandals) to tendu-patta collectors also. The State Government has also decided to distribute cycles to procurement center accountants. The same will be distributed. The State Government will be distributing Rs 1,500 per acre as support amount to chana growing farmers, which would benefit chana growing farmers. Maximum chana cultivation in the state takes place at Bemetara and Kawardha districts. During the Yatra the services of grass-root level workers like anganbadi workers and assistants, tendupatta collectors, panchayat employees, etc will be taken.

During the first phase the Yatra will cover 60 Assembly segments while the remaining Assembly segments will be covered during second phase. During the Yatra there will be press conference every day morning before initiating the day’s yatra followed by road show, welcome meeting, public meeting and during night stay, the Chief Minister will be holding meeting with senior and eminent citizens and senior party office-bearers and workers. Meanwhile, the vehicle on which the Chief Minister will travel during the ‘Vikas Yatra’ – called ‘Vikas Rath’ is ready. The van is equipped with all kinds of modern and high-tech technology. While the interiors are marvelous, on the outside the BJP slogan – ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’, is beautifully written, which is also the motto of the ‘Vikas Yatra’. The van is equipped with CCTV and GPRS along with emergency alert. It is also equipped with night vision devices apart from many other hidden security features. The van has seating capacity for eight persons.
