Crime branch rounds-up satta operator, confiscate Rs 1.60 lakh

Crime Branch and Utai police in a joint operation arrested one cloth merchant from Utai Market while operating Sutta Patti through mobile on IPL 20-20 cricket match and confiscated cash Rs 1.68 lakh and sattapattis from his possession. Police registered the offence and are further investigating the matter. Police sources informed that the accused arrested by police have been identified as Gautam Jain alias Bandish Jain (50) a cloth shop owner at Bazar Chowk, Utai. The police said that after a tip off crime branch and utai police team swung into action and caught the accused red handed while collecting satta numbers for the IPL cricket match and recovered cash and sttapattis from his possession. The police recovered Rs 1,68,850, six sattapattis, a mobile phone and calculator from his possession. During investigation the accused revealed that several high profile persons from the city are involved in cricket betting. The police have registered the offence against the accused under section 4 of Gambling Act and are further investigating the matter.
